Also, Zune software will not install, when zune tries to install, it says updates could not be installed, interface not supported. I'm pretty sure, that if i get windows updates working, zune will work as well. What should i do? Thanks in advance. Did you also install IE8? I had the same problem, could get to Update page but page was all white with no options for downloading but cleared up after uninstalling IE8 and rolling back to IE7.

Just click the Next in the lower right hand corner. Now it checks for your internet, if you don't have one it asks you, "How will this computer connect? Now it says, "Do you use a username and password? No you don't, so you will select "No, always connected.
Now it asks you to set up your high speed connection. Check "Obtain IP Automatically". Click next. Now it wants you to register. Register if you wish, but it is not required. I never register my systems. Now it asks you for your name and it gives you room to enter 3 others, this is misleading. It will use whatever name you put in there as your username. No "Fix it for me" worked, reinstall didn't work, re-install sp3 over and over didn't work Then, I put automatic updates to "notify me before downloading" and it let me get about updates.
Still wouldn't let me on the site however. So I installed. Did that, and no dice. NET Framework 4. I can't upgrade to IE8. I need to have a fully patched installation completed to build a pre-patched base image for a set of laptops, and this is frustrating the hell out of me.
I've never posted on here before, but had to after experiencing this exact problem. Net 4 didn't fix it and waiting for auto updates to pop up was really wasting my time. The logic on the Windows Update site has to have been broken. If there's another security update that the site is checking for Microsoft needs to put that information in the KB article.
I had the same problem. Just figured it out. Note that I tried pretty much everything else on here first. I tried installing the latest Windows Update Agent. I tried installing ie8.
