Click System Restore, and then click Next. Click the restore point that you want to use, and then click Next. Note Click a restore point that will return the computer to a state where the logon is successful.
After you use the System Restore feature, reinstall any programs or updates that may be removed. You will not lose any personal documents. However, you may have to reinstall programs. You may also have to reset some personal settings. Confirm the disks that you want to restore , and then click Next.
Click Finish, and then click Yes when you are prompted. When the System Restore process is complete, click Restart to restart the computer. After the computer restarts, click Close to confirm that the System Restore process has finished successfully. Once you boot to the desktop, you need to update all the drivers to the latest versions available.

Now when I start it up it hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen. I tried safe mode and booting from the DVD and the same thing happens. It gets stuck at classpnp. Can anyone help? We can't even get to those options! When trying to access the system through safe mode I get a stop at "classpnp. If I boot from the disc, try to do a system restore, startup repair, or even try just to completely reinstall the OS, it says it is "loading files" above a growing white progress bar and then just goes to a blank screen.
I have spent 3 days and nights searching forums, trying to time button presses just right to access different menus, experimented with countless combinations of BIOS settings, and still have had no luck. I know there are a large number of people out there with the same problem, does no one have the answer? If we can't even get the system to where I can reinstall the OS over the original to access my files have I really just lost thousands of dollars of work and pictures of my new daughter?
I realize there is a lesson in backing things up in all this, but I hope there isn't a lesson about the new Windows either. I was really impressed with Win 7 so far but perhaps I should have invested in Home Server instead or even another option. How satisfied are you with this reply?

After it reboots, Windows 7 seems to start up, with the new animation, then some white lines start to appear on the screen, and it starts up to a black screen that says "Windows 7 Build Evaluation Copy" in the lower right corner.
Never makes it any farther that that. If it's any use, when I restart, the computer also gives me a message about the computer not shutting down properly, and gives me the option to start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and the regular start-up. When I try starting in any of the Safe Modes, it takes me to a screen where it says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use", along with a dialog box that says that the installation cannot continue in Safe Mode.
